My new series, ‘Cultivated’, is a seed-to-artwork project which draws on my experience as a biologist, gardener, and artist. Produce from my allotment garden serves as source material for various abstract artworks: paintings, drawings, and prints.
As an abstract artist, I embrace what is unique about my subject as I perceive it. In this case, the subject consists of the images I observe through my vintage 1950s microscope. Each different plant’s cells have their own character.
