Tansi, Hello!
As an emerging self-taught acrylic visual artist currently living on Epekwitk/PEl, I am inspired by the constant beauty around me. My work is known for its bold use of colours and pattern mixing, all of which are included with these Queens. They also have my flagship style of bigger-than-life hair that boosts their elegant crowns up high and creates a look that one can't help but feel drawn to.
Each canvas is a celebration of the human experience. I explore the realness and imperfections of how we exist in the world today with each layer. My paintings explore themes of self-expression, individuality, and the beauty that exists beyond the physical. It challenges the traditional idea of figures and portraits, offering instead a challenge to contain on canvas, a celebration of colour, form, and energy that is as unique as you. This is why their dresses, legs, and sometimes the crowns are painted just off the edge of the canvas.
These paintings represent the human desire for connection, courage, and community. Each figure allows you, the viewer, to reflect on your own understanding of beauty. To capture the emotions that they evoke within.
They rarely contain distinct facial features, except for my signature red lips, so you can participate in completing the figure with your imagination.
As well, I paint to remind us to wear our tiaras to brunch, continue to play and be TOO MUCH. I reclaim that expression as a positive through my works. Too many layers and saturated colours are my style. I live for bold strokes and joyful paint colours.
I invite you on this journey of exploring beauty and being TOO MUCH. Also, to remind you that play needs to always be a part of life.
Enjoy,
Sita
