I am an impressionistic encaustic (beeswax) painter creating rich, colourful art that reflects our awe-inspiring natural world. I find an ideal human narrative mirrored in nature -one rooted in connection, regrowth and energy.
My work explores this complex, diverse and resilient community.
There is something simply freeing about the looseness of play with translucent pigmented beeswax and its response to heat. The back-and-forth nature of this tactile medium takes you on a wonderful journey of discovery where beauty reveals itself, even in the unexpected.
I move expressively, building many layers of encaustic medium. By its nature, encaustic is very tactile and lends itself not only to mark-making, gouging and scraping away to reveal patterns and shapes, but also to building thick texture and holding mixed media elements. I often further inform the work with ink and foraged items like stone and glass.
