Initially focused on representational painting, I've consistently moved towards simplicity in my work. My primary interest is to distill images and memories through abstraction, with my paintings reflecting the shapes, colours and textures of my rural surroundings. Working on wood panels gives me the flexibility to carve subtle marks into my work, or sand through layers of paint to reveal the history of the painting. I often use charcoal, graphite and pigmented crayon to define shapes or add expressive marks that connect shapes together.
Originally from the GTA, I currently live and work in Frontenac County, ON.
