I am a Toronto-based oil painter inspired by the places and moments that invite a second look. My work explores attention and the experience of place. I am drawn to gathering spaces, streets, and interiors where light, colour, and small details create a sense of presence.
Working from my own photographs, I build layered compositions that balance observation with memory. Rather than recreate a scene exactly as it appeared, I use colour and light to capture the atmosphere and feeling that first drew me to it. In these paintings, I explore two distinctive Toronto interiors-Bar Raval and the Shameful Tiki Room-each remembered as much for how it feels as how it looks.
Through my paintings, I hope to create a sense of pause. By focusing on familiar spaces and everyday moments, I invite viewers to slow down and reconnect with the beauty and sense of belonging that can be found in the world around them.
