Joya Paul and Ann Shier are encaustic artists who have complimentary but different approaches to the medium of encaustic. They have been studio partners since 2008 exhibiting together in various shows in Toronto. They work out of Second Door Studio in the Distillery District where they impart their passion and knowledge of encaustic art through workshops.

Joya’s work is a combination of imagery, both drawn or photo based, with mixed media.  Ann Shier produces colour fields with inspiration from Canadian Northern landscapes.  Enigmatic Encaustics showcases the ethereal and dreamlike quality of this medium through two very distinct applications.
