Shannon Dickie has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph in Studio Art. In her oil paintings, she explores society's interactions with digital media. In 2010, she was awarded the Best Student Painter award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. She has been featured in national publications including the September 2012 issue of Canadian House and Home Magazine, and the new Visual Art high school textbook, Art Works. Shannon maintains an active studio practice and has shown in galleries in Guelph, Kitchener, Hamilton, and Toronto. She has worked as an Artist Educator at the Art Gallery of Ontario and is presently teaching art at an independent school in downtown Toronto.
This series of paintings capture the play of light as the sun sets. Inspired by urban environments with people in motion, these works aim to harness the energy of light and movement. Embracing moments through a thoughtful colour palette and use of blur, the artist captures both the motion of the figures and a fleeting moment in time.
