A Nostalgic Love Letter to the Glowing Screen.
Raised by television and fuelled by technicolour nostalgia, Rob Croxford transforms iconic TV quotes into bold, theatrical works of art. “As Seen On TV” is a glitter-soaked homage to the sitcom punchlines, neon signage, and camp spectacle that shaped a generation.
Rob Croxford’s work feels like turning on the television after school and letting everything else fall away for a while.
Rob Croxford
Rob has been working full-time on his art since 2004. In that time he has painted nearly 2000 works of art and has shown in over 200 juried exhibitions. Currently, you can see his artwork in both Canadian and US galleries, in the permanent City of Toronto Art Collection, and private collections all over the world.
His art has been featured in magazines, blogs and a coffee table book! Rob‘s vintage-inspired artwork merges pop culture, nostalgia, typography and humour. His latest “Sign Language” series reinvents vintage neon signs with famous film quotes to create something familiar and yet completely new!
In a complicated world, Rob’s art is intentionally upbeat;
a collision of nostalgia, humour, typography, and the occasional cheeky political nudge.
Global art domination? Perhaps.
But mostly, he’s here to make you smile.
Raised by Television
I’m a proud latchkey kid of the 1970s - which means I was essentially raised by television.
While other children were outside, I was downstairs in a wood-panelled basement worshipping the glowing altar of our TV set.
The Electric Company, Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Arthur Fonzarelli - they weren’t just entertainment.
They were my education in colour, rhythm, timing, satire, and spectacle.
I “accidentally” stayed up for Saturday Night Live and Elvira, developing a taste for camp long before I fully understood it. By my pre-teens, The Dukes of Hazzard, Solid Gold, and The Love Boat were quietly shaping my aesthetic - and introducing me to some very confusing crushes.
Pop culture became my religion. Sitcom punchlines and theme songs shaped my humour, my resilience, and my worldview. That theatrical energy followed me into adulthood - and straight into my studio. In “As Seen On TV,” I re-stage iconic television dialogue within neon and weathered roadside signage. Familiar words get a new marquee. Catchphrases become declarations. Nostalgia becomes spectacle.
This collection is a love letter to the flickering screen that made me who I am.
Welcome to my slightly twisted, technicolour mind.
