The background in this piece is a combination of three layers of greenery: seaweed in the St. Lawrence River (viewed from a boat trip my brother-in-law took us on), a lovely bit of landscaping at the Metro Toronto Zoo, and a determined little leafy plant growing in a puddle in the Azores. The trees are from a recent trip to the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, to visit my mom. The title of the piece comes from an Emily Carr quote:"The liveness in me just loves to feel the liveness in growing things, in grass and rain and leaves and flowers and sun and feathers and furs and earth and sand and moss."
