Elsha Leventis “New Perspectives” Feb 4-28th

Dutch-born Toronto artist Elsha Leventis loves playing with the effects of light in these two bodies of work. Her oil on Mylar paintings called Eyescapes attempt to capture and abstract the intricate landscape of the iris, as well as what we “see” in conditions such as squinting or looking with eyes wide shut, while using a very controlled image - circles. In her meditative works called Mistscapes, she is fascinated by the effects of mist – both literally and figuratively. Mist is a metaphor for what has been there all along but we may not see until it lifts.
