Shoshana Coodin

I am a beading embroidery artist based in Toronto with my roots in Winnipeg Manitoba. Through my beadwork I create small textural universes that connect to land and nature and in particular the landscape of the prairies. Beadwork is a medium used by many cultures throughout history and for me beads tell a story. Each bead is a part of a larger puzzle that when put together create an image that is bigger than its tiny parts. I incorporate pieces of nature into my work (rocks, twigs, leaves) which literally and figuratively connect each work to a place and to the nature of which it belongs. My work is subtle and small, time consuming and precise with a focus on texture and colour.
