Julie Himel is a Toronto painter who dwells in the personal and the universal alike. Through her landscape painting, she seeks to translate the human condition and emotional experience with the manipulation of paint; the creation of tension between form and space and the play of light. Her works are painterly and seductive, drawing you in to feel a sense of place and the thematic exploration of presence and absence. Julie holds a Diploma of Fine art from Langara College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree from York University, and a Graduate Diploma from Toronto School of Art. Her work can be found in public collections in Canada and the United States, and private collections internationally.
