Born in North York, Ian has been a patriotic artist his whole life. At age 13, he won a stamp design contest for the province of Ontario and met Lincoln Alexander. At age 17, he won a poster design contest for Canada Day and met Brian Mulroney and Queen Elizabeth on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Canada Day. At 19, Ian began studying at Ontario College of Art, but was not able to finish. After spending many years as a licensed carpenter and builder, Ian returned to painting and mixed media designs and has been painting and showing for many years. Ian’s works are carried by numerous galleries, and held in private and corporate collections around the world. His Toronto studio space and gallery is open to visitors by appointment.
