Alanna Peters’ paintings focus on the mysteries of the human condition and the people and places for which she interacts are the inspiration for her work. Her recent body of work has focused on intimate portraits dealing with the theme of transitions in people’s live, and large scale figurative work using water and wind to effect the figure as a way of investigating impermanence and constant change. Her paintings are held in private and public collections in Canada, France and the United States.
Alanna's textile work is all hand screen printed and is based on detailed designs pulling influences from designs discovered through her travels in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. Her textiles have been sold in Canada, France, Germany and Uganda.
Alanna was born in Ottawa. She earned an Honours BA in Fine Arts from McMaster University (2001) and a BEd for Arts Based Learning from Queen's University (2005).
Alanna works in figurative oil paintings and textile surface design. She is based in Toronto, ON. In November 2016, she will begin as an artist in residence at Bleu Crow Gallery in Toronto.
